The commemorative nickel silver coin of Ukraine belongs to the Olympic series of 28th Summer Olympiad. The 2-hryvnia piece was minted in 2002 and depicts the swimming sport. The coin’s obverse is designed in the same style as the rest of the pieces of the series. It shows the rectangular plaque with the image of two ancient Greek priestesses holding the burning Olympic torch and branches of laurel which symbolizes victory. The legends explaining the country of issue, denomination, the year of producing are minted around the plaque. The reverse of the piece is designed with the similar rectangular plaque which shows the swimmer in the basin. The inscriptions are placed around the image by the all four sides and state the name of the Games, the host city and the year of the event in Ukrainian and English.
