Ukraine 2 hryvnia Summer Olympic Games in Athens Boxing sport nickel coin 2003

The collectible non-precious coin of Ukraine minted in 2003 is dedicated to the 2004 Summer Olympics. The hosting city of that Olympiad was Athens, where the Games originally came from. The commemorative 2-hryvnia coin depicting boxing was minted in only 3000 copies, so it’s a rare one for collectors, despite its ordinary mintage quality. The obverse of the piece bears the rectangular image of two ancient Greek pagan priestesses holding the Olympic fire and laurel branches for winners. There are the denomination of the coin indicated below the image and the name of the issuing state placed above it. The reverse side of the piece bears the rectangular image with the boxer sportsman on it. The image is surrounded by the Ukrainian and English inscriptions explaining the name of Athens 2004 Olympics.
